MARKO JAGER, MASTER OF EXTREME DRIVING

09.02.2021

Although he prefers snowmobiles, Marko Jager became famous mainly on four-wheelers, where he has no competition. Neither in Slovenia nor in Central Europe. He is a two-time winner of the Albania Rally and the winner of the 24 Hours of Athens endurance race in the ATV class, finishing third in the NCC American Professional Series race. He is the Slovenian and German champion in crosscountry with a four-wheeler. Unfortunately, his dream performance at the Dakar Rally was never successful due to the huge financial burden of this infamous most difficult off-road endurance race.

He bought his first motocross bike in the sixth grade of primary school. Even before the age of 18, he raced in autocross, and continued his racing career in the Seicento Cup, where, despite modest financial support, in 2000 he took second place among newcomers. Circuit and mountain racing soon became too little for him, so he embarked on the most complex racing sport - rally. In the 1,400-cubic-centimeter cup, he became a state runner-up and fifth in the national championship absolute standings, then ended his realist career due to the team's withdrawal from racing.

But he couldn't stand it without racing. In 2005, he switched to snowmobiling and immediately impressed as one of the best newcomers at championships in neighboring countries. He finished second in the strong international toboggan race as the second best European and by far the best amateur. In the first season he became the international toboggan champion of Austria, the following year he won the only race of the Slovenian championship and only confirmed what had long seemed - that he is the greatest master of snowmobile racing in our country. With the sledge, he became runner-up at the Austrian Open Hillclimb Championships and runner-up at the Austrian Open Championships up to 440 cubic centimeters.

But one of the greatest experiences, which was also one of the highlights of his non-racing sports career, was his participation in various film shootings - as a stuntman he rode a snowmobile in quite a few films and commercials. We were together in Alaska, where we participated with the best extreme sledders and a few other Slovenian "crazy people" in the shooting of the sports extreme film "Two stroke cold smoke".
