Slovenian Business Club asked the owners of well-established companies from various industries what they think about government measures and how the authorities should improve them. They talked to Ksenija Sorčan, Ema Pogačar, Anja Rebek, Katja Kraškovic and Tanja Skaza.

1. PROPOSAL: Immediate payment of subsidies, reduction of administration and no repayment of aid received.

The director of Ski & Sea, Ksenija Sorčan, who together with her partner Tomaž turned her passion for adrenaline driving into a business years ago, believes that the government is doing its job well. "The current hardship would certainly be alleviated by companies by immediately paying subsidies and reducing the administration, which is tied to filling out various forms. It does not seem right to me that companies that have managed to create growth even in this uncertain time will have to return the state subsidy for salaries to employees on temporary waiting for work, who were at home during the complete shutdown."
Ema Pogačar has a similar opinion, focusing her entire life and work on tourism and hospitality and currently running the company Conditus. "All PKPs have been designed to be of great help to entrepreneurs, and most companies have been able to use them. I would just point out that a correction should be made to the refund provision in the event that the company did not have a turnover drop of more than 10 percent; for companies that are trying, this is extremely discouraging. Work must be a value and the help received from the state should also go to these companies. This is the only shortcoming, otherwise the state's measures are good, as solvency is maintained."

2. PROPOSAL: Selective granting of aid to individuals and understanding of the specifics of different sectors.

Our entepreneurs share the opinion that the government is trying to act to the best of its ability, but they believe that the challenges must be constantly responded to effectively. "The latter are mainly hidden at the level of ensuring the equivalence of different sectors when it comes to receiving aid in a crisis, and understanding the broader concept of social structures and specifics of each sector," explains Anja Rebek from the boutique agency Fabulatorij, which organizes events.
"Through arts and cultural activities, these structures strengthen social awareness and identity and influence the development of entrepreneurial ideas and opportunities in the environment. This is the indisputable reality of a developed society to which we must aspire. At the same time, I should not forget to mention the successes or measures that are definitely positive, especially in the business sector. Reimbursement of fixed costs to companies is certainly something that belongs to the successful and desired measures of the government. Perhaps a more intensive dialogue and a structured proposal to help the event organization sector, in which we also operate, would not hurt, "adds Anja.
"I think it makes sense to take measures to help companies / areas where they are completely closed and not allowed to operate, and I also support measures that encourage investment and development, because that brings the future. It also seems to me that the measures help small entrepreneurs. For example, I do not agree with the non-selective sharing of amounts, which in reality cannot cover the costs of individuals, "says entrepreneur Katja Kraškovic, director of the Gea College business school, and touches on the student allowance.
"I don't see how this supplement is supposed to solve anything. Many students still, thank God, study at home and do not feel financial distress. However, there are many who do not have this support, but the amount of 150 euros will not improve their situation, "he said, adding that these funds should be distributed more sensibly and fairly, even if it means much more work for civil servants.

3. PROPOSAL: Opening national borders and supporting the sustainable development of green businesses.

Because many companies operate not only in domestic markets but also in foreign ones, closing their borders makes it difficult for them to do business. "In our company, we sell products for which communication over the phone and the Internet is not enough, but personal contact with the customer is important, as this is the easiest way to match their wishes with their needs and offer them the product that is most suitable for them. This was made more difficult during the closed municipal borders, "says Ksenija Sorčan from the company Ski & Sea.
Tanja Skaza, the owner of Plastika Skaza, where they are leaders in new trends in the field of plastics, does not comment on the government's measures. She is convinced that there are still many opportunities in Slovenia that should be used, especially in the field of legislation and financial resources.
"We want to take a step forward in the field of waste management. In doing so, I have in mind primarily the classification of certain wastes as raw materials. This would allow for a so-called new life, instead of discarding the potential raw material. At the same time, according to the defined rules, we are a large company with the most green plans and strategies, and on the other hand, the least financial incentives are available to us. As part of the tax relief for companies, banks could offer green financing or the state green relief, "says Skaza, emphasizing the importance of supporting the sustainable development of companies.
"The government should listen to green projects and green strategies. Let it give people the opportunity, including financially, to restructure their businesses into agile ones. The more agile companies there are, the more empowerment there will be in the Slovenian economy, the more it will grow, develop and become competitive on the world market, "explains the entrepreneur.
