Heart failure kills eight Slovenians every day!
Sudden heart failure most often occurs unexpectedly, and more than half of patients have no problems before the fatal event. Most often occurs due to the so-called chamber fibrillation, which is characterized by completely chaotic electrical cardiac activity. Mechanical activity of the heart, that is pumping blood across the body, suddenly completely stops and if we do not act immediately, the dying process begins, which becomes irreversible within 5-10 minutes.
"Heart failure can happen to everyone and at any time. Children, teens, elderly, sick, healthy ... There are no rules! Statistics show that eight Slovenians die every day because of heart failure ", says Mr. Bilic, a representative of Defib GmbH Branch offices in Slovenia, and the leader of the course of correct use of Defibrillator. In 80 % of such cases, at the time of sudden heart failure, patients are surrounded by their relatives, co-workers or random passers, so it often depends from their quick and proper action whether the patient will survive or not. Unfortunately, research in Slovenia has shown that there are few people who are familiar with how to behave adequately in situations that endanger life.

Fast defibrillation or secular "electroshock" is the only procedure that can restore cardiac function. "With every minute delay to "electroshock ", the probability of survival drops by about 10 %. But the Defibrillator does not mean anything if people do not know how to use it," says Mr. Bilic. "It is necessary to invest in education and provide for the maximum participation of first aid courses, because the often killer is the ignorance that leads to fear and ultimately into inactivity. Defibrillator detects a heart rhythm disorder and tells you if it is necessary to trigger an electroshock.
